What to Bring and How to Be Prepared for Your Training Session
To ensure a smooth and successful training experience, here’s a list of things you should bring and how to prepare for your upcoming session with us:
What to Bring:
-
2 Leash's and Collar/Harness:
-
A standard, non-retractable leash (6-foot is ideal) and a properly fitted collar or harness.
-
-
Treats:
-
High-value treats that your dog loves and will work for (small, soft treats work best). If your dog has any dietary restrictions, please bring their preferred treats.
-
-
Water and Water Bowl:
-
Stay hydrated during training, especially in warmer weather or during long sessions. Bring a portable water bowl for your dog as well.
-
-
Poop Bags:
-
Be prepared to clean up after your dog during the session. We want to keep the environment clean and comfortable for everyone.
-
-
Toys (Optional):
-
Bring a favorite toy if your dog uses it as a reward or motivator during training (e.g., for tug-of-war or fetch).
-
-
Training Aids (Optional):
-
If your dog uses specific equipment for training (e.g., clickers, training vest, etc.), feel free to bring it.
-
-
Vaccination Records:
-
For puppies or if you're training in a group setting, please bring proof of vaccinations to ensure a safe training environment.
-
-
A Positive Attitude & Patience:
-
Training takes time, so come with an open mind, a positive attitude, and the understanding that both you and your dog are learning together!
-
How to Prepare:
-
Set Realistic Expectations:
-
Training takes time and consistency. Come with a clear idea of your goals, but be ready for gradual progress.
-
-
Be On Time:
-
Arriving on time ensures you get the most out of your session and helps the trainer focus on your dog without interruptions.
-
-
Practice at Home:
-
If you're working on specific commands or behaviors, try practicing at home before your session to build consistency and reinforce learning.
-
-
Dress Comfortably:
-
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as you may be moving around, walking, or even running with your dog during training.
-
-
Come With Patience:
-
Every dog learns at their own pace. Stay patient with your pup and trust the process, even if it takes time for them to grasp new behaviors.
-
-
Be Ready to Participate:
-
Dog training is a partnership. Be ready to actively engage and follow instructions from the trainer to maximize your dog’s progress.
-
-
Keep a Calm and Positive Attitude:
-
Dogs often mirror their owners’ emotions, so staying calm and positive will help keep your dog relaxed and focused.
-
By coming prepared with these essentials and the right mindset, you’ll be set for a successful and enjoyable training experience for both you and your dog! Let’s make the most of your time together and help your dog reach their full potential!
